Contract: GRANT AGREEMENT - Bodster Equine Assisted Learning Community Interest Company

Details

Buyer:
Isle of Wight Council
Department:
Adult Social Care & Community Well-being
Title:
GRANT AGREEMENT - Bodster Equine Assisted Learning Community Interest Company
Description:
The grant will be used for five programmes: - The first programme will utilise virtual one to one and small group sessions using Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp and Facetime to support disadvantaged learners, often with poor mental health, disabilities, chronic health conditions, including for those who are housebound. It will enable people who often due to their circumstances feel unable to participate in learning to participate and it will help people feel less isolated and become part of their community. Learners will achieve connection with people, feel more included and regain self-belief. Learners will have the opportunity to progress to NOCN qualifications later in the year. The second programme will provide one to one individual sessions for people with poor mental health, from minority groups, people who are unemployed or on benefits, older people and people with poor access to digital skills. It will enable people feeling fearful of leaving their homes to come to a non-pressurised outside space where they will feel safe. Learners will re-gain self- confidence and some will go on to completing NOCN Level 1 qualifications whilst in these sessions. The third programme will be small group sessions for people to volunteer at Bodster CIC. It will enable learners who worry about being around other people to come in small groups in a space where they can have personal time if needed. Learners will develop more independence, acquire new skills, for example in horse care and gardening, and feel more confident to then go and volunteer elsewhere in their local community. The fourth programme will be for those learners who wish to achieve a nationally recognised NOCN level 1 or NOCN level 2 qualification ‘Developing Self-awareness and Personal Confidence’. NOCN’s will be conducted in a non-pressurised setting where the qualification is achieved by building a portfolio of evidence. The fifth programme will be for those learners who wish to achieve a nationally recognised NOCN level 2 qualification ‘Improving Own Performance’. This qualification will encourage learners to develop new targets in their lives through exploring their own performance with the ponies and in their lives and so enable them to identify the next steps. As part of the course learners will also develop their CV.
