Details

Buyer:
Cornwall Council
Department:
Economic Growth and Development
Title:
Experience Project Accessibility Consultant/Access Cornwall CIC
Description:
Dates services required: February 2026 – December 2026 Experience Bodmin. Cornwall Council has appointed an Accessibility Specialist Organisation, Access Cornwall CIC to provide: An immersive day in Bodmin for stakeholders and decision-makers to experience the town from a different perspective Accessibility information about key attractions and locations in and around Bodmin Business outreach Background Experience is a Cornwall Council project that encourages a resilient year-round visitor economy. Experience delivers a year-round growth model that increases footfall by creating unique cultural and low carbon experiences. The programme brings together key stakeholders to collaborate and deliver specific aspects of each Cornish town’s ambitions. Experience promotes each destination through an integrated and targeted communication campaign showcasing the unique identity and culture of each place. With capital investment and regeneration as its main catalyst for change, it offers long-lasting tangible benefits to local communities and its residents. The programme has four strands of work: network-building and skills development, development of the visitor destination and its offer, marketing of the destination and evaluation. Experience has been awarded funding from Good Growth (Shared Prosperity Fund) for 2025-26, which is match funded by Cornwall Council’s Town Centre Revitalisation Fund in 2026-27. Objectives The immersive day, research, listing and business engagement will contribute towards the following project target: Improving what Bodmin offers to visitors Promoting Bodmin as a place to visit Overall, it will support the project’s ambition to: Revitalise towns and support communities in achieving their local priorities Deliverables Immersive day in Bodmin for stakeholders and decision-makers to experience the town from a different perspective We would like to invite regional decision-makers and those shaping places and infrastructure in Bodmin to experience the town centre from the perspective of someone living with a disability—including mobility, sensory, and neurodivergent conditions. We believe this immersive experience will help them better understand the challenges faced by many locals and visitors and ultimately inform and influence future decisions. Accessibility information about key attractions and locations in and around Bodmin We need to create a comprehensive bank of accessibility information for key local attractions and popular public spaces in and around Bodmin. This information must be clear, consistent, and accurate, presented in an accessible format. The information will be promoted through key websites as well as printable guides distributed to organisations within the visitor economy sector. Business Outreach We would like the consultant to deliver a number (up to 30) of free accessibility assessments to local small and medium-sized independent, customer-facing businesses across retail, hospitality, and recreation. These assessments will be conducted through supportive, collaborative interactions designed to raise awareness of diverse customer needs and highlight how embracing accessibility—and tapping into the “purple pound”—can ultimately benefit the business.
