Contract: GMCA 577b Rest Facilities and Associated Works

Details

Buyer:
Greater Manchester Combined Authority
Department:
GMCA
Title:
GMCA 577b Rest Facilities and Associated Works
Description:
The Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service has a requirement to provide suitable and modern rest facilities for operational firefighters across its portfolio. The current facilities do not meet the welfare and dignity standards that the Authority aims to deliver for its staff. While rest facilities are being addressed at some stations as part of wider refurbishment or new build projects, 27 operational fire stations still require attention to meet these standards. In October 2024, the Deputy Mayor approved a budget of £3,371,000 to deliver these works. The project aims to address this gap through a structured and efficient procurement process, ensuring high-quality delivery across all sites. Key Outputs • Delivery of a modern, fit- for- purpose rest facilities at 27 operational fire stations • Provision of adequate locker and storage facilities • Full compliance with welfare and dignity standards, as well as building regulations. • Efficient delivery of multiple live sites simultaneously while minimising disruption to operational fire stations. Contract Details The project will be delivered under a design and build contract. The contractor(s) will: • Support the design phase and assume full design liability. • Achieve building regulation sign-off for all works • Manage all aspects of works on live fire station sites. • Run multiple simultaneous projects to meet the delivery schedule. Given the scale and complexity of this programme, the intention is to award to the 2 (two) highest scoring bidders to ensure capacity and flexibility for the delivery of works. Sites will be allocated based on priority, cost and programme after award.
