Description:
The Isle of Wight Council (“the Authority”) invited Tenders from suitably qualified suppliers (“Potential Suppliers”) for the provision of Integrated Grounds Maintenance Services on the Isle of Wight. This service includes routine grounds maintenance of specified corporate sites across the Island. The Authority sought a supplier to deliver an integrated grounds maintenance across a number of key locations across the Isle of Wight. Locations will include key tourist destinations, parks and open spaces, and schools. The provision of the service will be key in supporting local health and wellbeing and regeneration strategies. Also, the provision and maintenance of parks and open spaces has particular significance to the environment, both in enhancing the landscape and providing areas for sport, physical activity, relaxation and play. The Services include functions such as: • Maintenance of grassed areas (turf categories), turfing and grass seeding; • Maintenance of amenity planting, planting of shrubs, roses, herbaceous plants and bulbs; • Maintenance and planting of trees; • Maintenance of hedges; • Bedding displays (provisional); • Football pitch maintenance; • Sports tournaments & synthetic surfaces; • Water features and ditch maintenance; • Care and control of livestock; • Maintenance of non-vegetative surfaces; • Snow & ice clearance; • Litter collection & bin emptying; • Maintenance of cemeteries and churchyards, grave-digging, dealing with cremated remains, internments, grave maintenance, cleaning cemetery buildings. The Services are split between Core Services and Areas and Non-Core Services and Areas. Core Services include Principal Parks, Cemeteries and selected schools and colleges. Functions include Maintenance of grassed areas (turf categories), turfing and grass seeding; Maintenance of amenity planting, planting of shrubs, roses, herbaceous plants and bulbs; Maintenance and planting of trees; Maintenance of hedges; Football pitch maintenance; Sports tournaments & synthetic surfaces; Water features and ditch maintenance; Care and control of livestock; Maintenance of non-vegetative surfaces; Snow & ice clearance; Litter collection & bin emptying and Maintenance of cemeteries and churchyards, grave-digging, dealing with cremated remains, internments, grave maintenance, cleaning cemetery buildings. Non-Core Services include Community Parks and Open Space, Bedding in the Principal Parks and Rights of Way Strimming. Functions include Maintenance of grassed areas (turf categories), turfing and grass seeding; Maintenance of amenity planting, planting of shrubs, roses, herbaceous plants and bulbs; Maintenance and planting of trees; Maintenance of hedges; Bedding displays; Water features and ditch maintenance; Care and control of livestock; Maintenance of non-vegetative surfaces; Snow & ice clearance and Litter collection & bin emptying. The term of the contract shall 1 January 2020 until 31 March 2026 with the option to extend for up to a further two years at the sole discretion of the Authority.
